Screenwriting : Robert McKee Story Seminar by Boomer Murrhee

Robert McKee Story Seminar

I returned late last night from New York from a 30 hour Robert McKee Story seminar. If you get a chance to experience this, it is well worth the time. It will take days to decipher notes. It has brought much of what I've learned about screenwriting the last 3 years and brought it into a much clearer focus. I had to leave an hour early to catch a late flight and I regretted losing a single moment in this information packed experience. I told writers I met about the networking, educational opportunities and services available on S32. I'm still amazed when I meet people in the industry who have never heard of Stage 32. We are so fortunate.

Hi Boomer, I agree Robert McKee is well worth a study. I'm sure there might be something on the web, or in bookstores to glean the last part of the seminar you missed. I also like his quotes, and his sometimes almost philosophical explanations, and ideas. One I remember is "The Camera is The Dread X ray of All Things."

Wish I had known about the seminar. I;m just across the Hudson River and sounded like it would have been up my alley. I could have taken the extra hour of notes for you!

I have ordered his book. Many in the audience said most of his discussions are in the book. The difference supposedly is he uses more examples in his talks to get the point across. I'm still at my desk typing 30 pages of handwritten notes and reliving the experience. He also referenced his new book about dialogue hopefully coming out next year.

Excellent. I am one of those who can learn better the more examples I am given. Have to keep an eye out for his new book. Great experience!
