Screenwriting : Stage 32 pitch sessions by Bill Albert

Stage 32 pitch sessions

I've resisted the phone/skype pitch sessions for a long time. I get a bit nervous and always felt more comfortable doing the written pitches. I finally had my first one on Sunday and I really want to urge everyone to give it a try. You've heard of the "elevator pitch"? It's like that. It was a very intense conversation and we covered a lot of territory but, honestly, it feels incredibly positive. The agent was great, encouraging and complimentary.

If anything take a few of the consultation calls first to start. They're not as intense and can help you get comfortable.

Admit it! You're a writer and you love to talk about your work. The best part of it is you are talking to someone who also really wants to hear about your work.

FYI, on the consultation call I did three weeks ago the Development Director asked for my Pitch Deck and said he was going to recommend me to his company. Just have to wait it out, too.

The pitches are advertised as "education." Cheaper than going to film school and less Time. Eventually, you're gonna need to sell yourself face to face to Employers & Peers. Practice now.

Hey Bill Albert! I am so glad you took the leap and did a verbal pitch. I am sure you must have felt nervous leading up to it, but that is totally natural and everyone - no matter what level - experiences those nerves. I completely agree these pitch sessions are an excellent way to hone your pitching skills so that when you are in front of industry pros you can simply "fall back on your training" so to speak. Really proud and excited for you!
