Screenwriting : Timing is a big factor by Bill Albert

Timing is a big factor

I had an hour long consultation this morning. The producer absolutely loved it. Told me from the start how impressed he was by all the work I'd done and how he liked I didn't take the easy way to tell a story.

Great.

Then he passed on the idea. He politely explained he already had a project in the works and he felt that one post-apocalyptic story with a female lead character was enough.

Just a reminder, and hopefully anyone starting up can learn this, there are outside influences that can get your project passed on. Your goal should be to find that one person who's going to like what you do and wants to make it work. It's not easy, there's a lot of outside influences that can set you back, just keep pushing.

I sold the exact same story female post apocalyptic script to a UK company last year. Yours will find a home. looks like a trend is coming.

I thought being it involved the destruction of the US a Brit would love it.

Keep up the good work Bill Albert! I know we've emailed back and forth on this. Like Craig D Griffiths says, it will find a home!

Thank you, Jason. Hope the 3rd time is a charm.
