What should the heading me when, for example, a character is outside a building first (EXT. A CONVENIENCE STORE - NIGHT) and then he has to continue to walk to the street (EXT. STREETS - NIGHT- WALKING?) from that spot outside the convenience store. I sometimes get confused about this. Another instance is when a character is inside a restroom (INT. RESTROOM - DAY) but the restroom is inside a mall. So when he walks out, is it INT. MALL - DAY or EXT. RESTROOM - DAY? Or maybe I'm just overthinking it.

EXT. CONVENIENCE STORE - NIGHT
Bob leaves the store and walks down the sidewalk and approaches the mall.
INT. MALL RESTROOM
Bob washes his hands.
INT. MALL
Bob leaves the restroom and enters the gun store.
Things to consider: 1) I didn't include the ToD for the scenes inside the mall, particularly within the restroom, there won't be windows so DAY or NIGHT will be irrelevant. 2) When your character leaves the restroom, he's still inside the structure so it is still INT. Your example is exactly the same as a character leaving a kitchen and standing in the living room but outside the kitchen. It's still INT.
