When working or networking on your scripts do you have a favorite composer for background music?

Just curious. I like John Williams, Hans Zimmer, & Elmer Bernstein.

Eric La Fuente

Oh, man, those are all great choices. I definitely play some Zimmer "Dark Knight" for suspense and action scenes. Danny Elfman also has stuff I like -- though there's just as much chance I'll blast some classic Oingo Boingo when I'm writing!

Also: Angelo Badalamenti for mood, Ramin Djawadi for texture, and even though I didn't like the movie too much I continually find inspiration from Elliot Goldenthal's creepy/operatic "Alien 3" score.

Jerry Robbins

I actually write with ear plugs in - dead sound - just me and the page.

Dan Guardino

I don't.

Steve Cleary

I like drippy, crispy instrumental stuff like Mitis, Govinda, Desert Dwellers, etc. No vocals dammit! :^}

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Recently, a lot of Grateful Dead

Victor Titimas

It depends on the screenplay/story I'm writing. Usually, I listen to fast music, mostly rap, but also rock and sometimes instrumental. It can create certain effects: Some eerie but slower music for a horror, and some quick fast-paced musicp for action scenes...

C.m. Andino

It definitely depends on what I'm writing. I listen to music that could be the soundtrack of what I'm writing. When I was writing a period piece I listened to Dario Marianelli's Jane Eyre soundtrack (one of my all time favorites), but now that I'm writing a screenplay about the Latin gangs (maras) I listen to instrumental versions of popular reggeton songs.

Cathy Yeater

Don't laugh at me, but I listen to a lot of Glee music, or Peter Hollens, Pentatonix, Home Free, anything a Capella.
