Pages Per Day

Hellooooooo!

I’m making good progress on my screenplay! I started two days ago and I’m already 50 pages in (I have a scene by scene outline that helps me)! It got me thinking: how many pages should I be writing per day, especially if I have a full time job? I don’t want to overdo it, but I also don’t...

Congratulations on the progress, Vincent Caruolo! 50 pages in two days is impressive! I don't think there's a "page count per day" standard. Write how many pages a day that you want. Some days I write...

That's awesome!! You write as much as you want. Sometimes the words just flow to page and you can do plenty. I have a fulltime job so I can only write a bit at a time. I just think about scenarios and writing at my job, and then translate it to page when I get a moment.

Jim Boston

Vincent, you're on FIRE!

Congratulations to you for firing off 50 pages in 48 hours...and here's wishing you tremendous success on your screenplay (and future works)!

Sam Sokolow

Agree with everyone here - just keep writing and et it flow as it does. The key is getting to the end so you can see the whole of what you’ve created and then start rewriting and polishing. way to go!!

How cliche is your writing?

I’ll start. let’s talk about the elephant in the room.

How Many Pages

I'm curious. How many pages do you attach to the loglines you have on your profile? I feel hesitant to post a full script to a logline. I feel that if someone wants to have the full script, they should have to pay for that and schedule a meeting. Not in that order. The meetings normally come first....

U think posting a LOGLINE and SYNOPSIS is okay.Any prouder or production company interested in your idea will reach out to you and request the whole script or you meet and discuss it further.

Pitching Shorts

No - not what you'd wear in a casual ballgame: my question is about how, or indeed whether, to pitch shorts.

I've written several TV pilots and one feature. I usually research relevant production companies and people to contact and and then generally get some engagement when I want to talk about an i...

My best tip is to network with indie producers, indie directors, and actors, Steve Mallinson. That's how I sold four short scripts to a producer on Stage 32. Most of the shorts I watch are made by ind...

Remakes

is it just me or are we having less original films and more remakes?

Bill Albert

It's not just you. Between remakes and the zillion comic book movies I rarely go to theaters any more.

David Page

I must admit, sometimes a remake is better. FREAKY FRIDAY, for example. And, though I'll probably get my head handed to me for this, THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN is better than SEVEN SAMURAI. I mean the orig...

Hey Friends, the Period Piece Movies Contest closed this week! Good luck to all who submitted and would love to hear what script you decided to enter!

Hey Pat, I entered JANISSARY (epic), THE MESSAGE (biopic), and THE MONK WHO WOULD BE SPY (action/historical). Historical fiction genre which includes Period is my main genre of writing as I love, love, love the different settings and opportunities to learn new things as I research.

Pat Alexander

Nikki Oldaker Announcements for contests go out at 4 PM PST on Fridays.

Sam Kesler

How many entries were received in the Period Piece competition and how many finalists will there be?

Elizabeth Dickinson

Sam, good question - for transparency's sake, I hope Stage 32 answers :)

Sam Kesler

Thanks for your response, Elizabeth. I’ve been revising my historical script for ten years. I only get it out to make another pass at it because of these competitions. Our period piece scripts must be...
