What November Taught Me About My Writing

Now that the November Write Club has ended, I stepped away from the keyboard to watch some screeners THEY WON’T CALL IT MURDER, CRY MACHO, and LORELEI. I also wanted to reflect on what I learned by completing the 1st draft of a script in 30-days.

1) I CAN DO IT.

Having a deadline works for me. Probabl...

Ha! Such is my commitment to excellence;-) that on our flight from London Heathrow to Doha in Qatar, I thought I’d write some more towards my November Writing Project.

The writing part went successfully, but when I tried to post the first ever Stage 32 post from Doha(?) my VPN network was blocked as...

What a thoughtful and interesting story Geoff!! The concept of self, from both young and seasoned (my now favorite descriptor word!) will be exciting to see you tackle - can't wait to hear more!!

Also - that view also does wonders for inspiration!

Both films are now available to stream at: https://www.mojos...

It is apparently 55 years since “Bullitt” was released. My dad took me to see it, because he loved the car chase scene and thought I would too. And he was right.

But there’s another scene that stood out for me: The restaurant/jazz club scene. I loved the music and now that I look back as a screenwrit...

As a kid, the first thing I noticed was how cool the opening titles were. I’d never seen anything like this. It also tells you something about the plot. So, check this out and enjoy:

Ty Strange through staging and choreography. I’d love to see the original script for this, it would make intriguing reading....

Xochi Blymyer McQueen was a stickler for realism, using locations throughout the movie and not studio sets. I think they’d have used real waiters and not extras, per se.

Well, okay, I'm a Family Guy now

I've never posted any of my contest finishes since lacing up my Stage 32 sneakers in November. I've had some. I prefer to just let those things be, and, hey, whatever happens happens. But on this one, I'm going to post with a specific reason behind it -- a suggestion for all of us creatives: don't b...

For sure Robin Gregory. Once I finally went two feet in, it became the "don't overthnk it" script. Sure, I had a solid structure to work from, but I basically stayed very loose and allowed whatever el...

Hey DT Houston , Yeah, it's like you let the spirit of play take over for a draft, and then refine what comes up to make sure it works. Keep being amazing!

Grateful to Stage 32 ! Season one of our podcast is out

This journey started at November Write Club 16 months ago and I 'm really proud to share with you this success.

So I had this horror story that I really wanted to adapt. I submitted my script here, and they said: you've got to make a series out of this. I really wanted to produce it myself and I cam...
