Just finishing up an 8-week online class with Garrick Dion (Development Exec BOLD FILMS) -- DRIVE & many other impressive titles... that I discovered through Joey & Stage 32. Great course -- Garrick has in-depth knowledge (actually, encyclopedic -- he calls himself a 'film nerd') of the industry, film, great guidelines and suggestions with many script links to back up/elaborate on specific topics. I can see why he's risen to the top in development. Two of the sessions are private one-on-one phone discussions about our work -- the goal is to create an in-depth outline of 3 acts for our stories. Each writer is linked with another to share notes, etc. Deadlines ambitious but really help. Thanks again to Joey for suggesting this course -- I highly recommend it -- I'm ready to go to script! And thanks Joey for heralding my written script pitches -- I have 5 requests for scripts to companies/execs interested in my genre so far. Most are for a script (a Nicholl's Fellowship finalist) that has been in turnaround twice -- first optioned with actor/country music great Dwight Yoakam who wanted to star and direct -- hit at the moment the economy tanked and we couldn't get funding. The second with Moctesuma Esparza (Milagro Beanfield Wars). Looking for the third and hopefully, final option that will follow-through to production! And last but certainly not least, through Stage 32 I hooked up with a creative artist/director/writer who I'm now working with to help rewrite his short script that has been in development (already has a trailer). Exciting creative (names withheld to protect the innocent :) that I never would have met if it wasn't for Stage 32! Thank you… it's not only been a productive relationship so far, but also inspiring to work with other creatives through our shared connections!!! One more etc. -- Stage 32 members are meeting in San Jose on June 24th at Santana Row, Starbucks -- 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. -- anyone interested, join us!
