Success Stories: MAR'18 HIRED by local LA Film Festival

HIRED by local LA Film Festival

It was just six months ago when my filmmaking dream took flight. After establishing myself as a successful international bestselling author, I wanted something more. I wanted to grow as a writer and creator and filmmaking seemed like the next logical step. It would make sense after all being that my soul had led me to LA at the end of 2013. I was ready to take things to the next level and eager to learn about screenwriting and filmmaking. I wanted to adapt one of my bestsellers to film as well as the sequel which I'm currently working on. I also had some other projects that served a better purpose on film rather than the pages of a book. So I got to work. Being deemed a networking queen, I knew where to start. At every publishing event and networking meet-up I attended, I would mention my desire towards this new career path and listened as people expressed their thoughts. I connected with amazing individuals and found that many were actually in the film industry. It was in September, 2014 when I attended a local film festival and met the organizers. I attended not only the screenings but the panel discussions because I wanted to learn about the way the industry works. It was there where I made some really great connections and had industry professionals take me under their wings. I stayed in touch with everyone and updated them on my progress, and just yesterday I was offered an assistant's position with that same festival. It was actually at a publishing event where I met a fellow author who told me about Stage32. I joined in October and have made amazing connections here. I'm learning so much and eager to take that knowledge with me to this new position. It really is that simple. Set a clear intention for what you want. Be very specific and do your part. Network, attend events, learn, and then RELEASE the attachment to the outcome. What will be, will be. You also have to have the skills to back it up once you're hired. I'm excited about joining this new team and supporting them with my expertise while learning at the same time. So if you are just breaking in to the film industry, keep going. Your day will come.
