Success Stories: APR'28 Stage32 is a crucial website for the serious screenwriter.

Kevin J. Howard

Stage32 is a crucial website for the serious screenwriter.

Stage32 is a crucial website for the serious screenwriter. The staff is so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Joey Tuccio has gone out and done all the hard work to bring some of the top managers, producers, and directors in Hollywood together to hear new ideas from writers like me and you. Mr. Tuccio has been there to answer any and all questions promptly and professionally, making the process incredibly smooth and relaxed. Through their pitch session, I have had Warner Bros, Fox, Benderspink, and Ghost House Pictures request to read my screenplays!! The pitch sessions are relaxed and calm, and the environment is very pleasant! I would highly recommend Stage32 pitch sessions to anyone with a screenplay, concept, or TV pilot! They are an incredible staff!!

CJ Walley

I'm reading so much positive stuff about these pitch sessions (and Joey Tuccio). I'm certainly going to be looking into them.

Ye Er

Congrats!

Kevin J. Howard

It's worth a shot for sure CJ

Daniel Stewart Levy

I'm scheduled for a pitch session this afternoon but haven't heard how to contact the producer. Anyone have an idea? Thanks!

Daniel Stewart Levy

Had my first pitch session ever this afternoon with Aaron Samberg of Parkes/MacDonald. Just a great experience! Aaron's sharp, attentive, and asked several excellent, thoughtful questions! Really got the sense he understood my script concept and was offering great advice. Thank you Aaron! Really appreciated your valuable time. The prep session I had with Joey Tuccio a couple days before was truly incredible! He's got such a positive, upbeat attitude -- easy-going and really funny. Without it, I'm sure I would have blundered badly through my actual pitch. I can't recommend Joey's help enough to others facing the same situation. Absolutely invaluable! And bottom line! Aaron requested my script to review! WOO-HOO! Who knows where we go from here, but at least he heard enough to take a look. That's all any of us can ask. I'm honored! Thanks so much to both you guys!

Laurie Ashbourne

Congratulations, Daniel! Good luck with the read. It's an addicting, valuable process and you're right, face time with Joey is priceless.

Daniel Stewart Levy

Thanks, Laurie! Strongly agree!

Kevin J. Howard

Fantastic Daniel! Joey is so priceless, and he just puts you in the best of moods before and after the pitch!

Rodrigo Diaz

Thanks for the comments. I'll be on the lookout!

Daniel Stewart Levy

Thanks so much Kathryn and Kevin! You really get a sense when working with Joey that he truly wants you to succeed. In a tough business like Hollywood, that's just wonderfully positive!

Rebecca Schauer

Definitely agree that Joey is what makes this operation so successful: he genuinely cares about the writers and is gifted at putting people at ease during what could be a very nerve-wracking experience. He's also amazing about answering emails, etc. I'm still trying to figure out if he ever sleeps...

Rick Hardin

Joey and everyone at the Happy Writers are great. They bring execs and managers who are hungry for new stories and willing to listen to new writers. Thanks!!!!

Laurie Ashbourne

Hey Joey - I think the writers on Stage 32 are obsessed with you ;)

Kevin J. Howard

Not obsessed, just a stalkers club. We're having T-shirts made :)

Laurie Ashbourne

I'm a small.

Rick Hardin

All great characters have some sort of flaw so why not obsession?

Ken Belsky

The requests you're getting from your pitches are phenomenal. Congrats. Looking forward to seeing your script on the big screen or small one.

Kevin J. Howard

Thank you so much, Ken! It's been an amazing experience, but now it's on to the waiting game. Tom Petty was right :)

Maria Pretorius

Would like to know what the process would be for a pitch oppertunity if you are in South Africa.

Laurie Ashbourne

Hi Maria, the pitch opportunities offered here are the same for everyone regardless of location. You can pitch online, live -- via skype or send in a written pitch. Contact: joey@stage32.com and he'll get you set up.

Maria Pretorius

Thank you

Maria Pretorius

Great new for a Screenwriter out of Africa

Ken Belsky

Sounds like you're in your stride. What kind of questions did the execs ask about you/your background? What kind of "zingers" did they throw at you.? Do you talk about your participation in the project. ie revisions, on set, co-produce??? www.bryankent.com

Jon Douglas Rainey

Thank you for taking the time to share all this. It's helpful for a new member to balance the pros and cons of a free site that charges for pitches. I understand the need to charge and the fact we wouldn't get to these contacts without Stage 32.Congratulations on your success for being heard and good luck with your endeavors.

Kevin J. Howard

Trust me, it's a great advantage to be put face to face with some of these execs. I've gone to numerous film festivals, but it's difficult to get any one on one time with producers and directors. Even winning a festival doesn’t mean you’re going to get anyone to look at your work, and that can be so frustrating. I think the amount this site charges is a small price to pay for a chance to pitch to some of Hollywood’s biggest companies. Sure beats all those film festival entry fees :) Thank you so much for the kind words, and I wish you success as well!

Laurie Ashbourne

I agree, Kevin.

Maria Pretorius

Glad to hear that, working on my first pitch so I can't wait

Richard "RB" Botto

Appreciate you posting and sharing, Kevin. And my thanks to everyone else who has posted with their experiences with The Stage 32 Happy Writers!

Maria Pretorius

Working on my first written pitch

Richard "RB" Botto

Nassim Abassi

Best of luck!

Maria Pretorius

I need all the luck guys

Tito Germaine 'Ontherise' Ellis

Thanks goes to the man above and to all that helps me in the process toward success

Sylvia Marie Llewellyn

It's so true. I pitched my thriller screenplay two nights ago. I was so surprised to get a REQUEST for the screenplay in less than an hour. So yesterday I proofed it for typos and sent it off. I'm a Happy Writer. All the best to you Kevin.

Richard "RB" Botto

Fantastic news, Sylvia! Here's to the next step!

Kevin J. Howard

That is excellent, Sylvia! Awesome news.

Susan Lipschutz Kaufman

As a happy writer, does anyone look over your log-line, and script before the pitch session?

Laurie Ashbourne

you can opt for pitch prep when you sign up -- I've never used it but it comes highly recommended

Susan Lipschutz Kaufman

Does Stage 32 have a pitch prep? I should just wander around the sight. I need an agent. All my 4 scripts are the same genre. There are so many options out there, but stage 32 seems like the facebook for those in the industry or trying to get in. Thanks for your words of wisdom.

Laurie Ashbourne

Susan, go to the Happy Writers section of the site and look for a pitch that is suited to your genre -- when you sign up to pitch there is a pitch prep option.

Suzanne Lutas

Congrats Kevin! Have you heard back from anyone since then?

Kevin J. Howard

Hello Suzanne! Funny you should ask. I actually just heard back a few days ago that Ghost House pictures has decided to pass on my most recent horror screenplay, but that's okay. As we all know, try and try again :) I've signed up to pitch my Sci-fi screenplay and another horror script to Ghost House tomorrow!

Suzanne Lutas

You're right Kevin, never give up. Another big day for you tomorrow: break a leg!

Kevin J. Howard

And it pays off!! I pitched my two latest screenplays, Sci-fi and a horror, and Ghost House requested both screenplays!!

Suzanne Lutas

I'm really happy for you Kevin, Kudos!!!

Amanda Toney

Hope things are still going great for you Kevin! Keep us updated on all your successes

Maria Pretorius

It is great newes

Kevin J. Howard

Thank you all so much. Joey called me a week or so ago and told me Ghost House Pictures liked my screenplay, but it wasn't quite right for them. I thought that meant a pass, but Joey said they informed him they were giving the script to another department for further review. If it's not a no, then it's good to go! I hope you all have a great day.

Dianne Greenlay

Way to go, Kevin! Fingers crossed for you!

Sylvia Marie Llewellyn

Great News! Kevin.... all the best wishes for you.

Tito Germaine 'Ontherise' Ellis

Keep Up The Good Work...

Eric Westlake

Amen!
