About Mark

Originally from Cartago, Colombia, Mark Sonoda was raised and educated on the sunny shores of Miami, Florida. After studying business administration and international marketing at the University of Connecticut, Mark returned to Miami to earn his BA in Film Production / Screenwriting from Miami International University. His career within the film industry began during his college years, in the world of music videos and commercials. Mark quickly emerged as a solid line producer, which earned him the opportunity to work with some of the industry’s leading commercial / music video directors. In 2001, he took a post in feature film development and production in New York City, New York. In 2003, after working on over two dozen feature films, Mark left NYC to serve as production consultant for Warner Brothers International in Australia, where he worked on over 40 features ranging from large studios tent pole films to mid-level theatrical releases. After completing his tenure with WB and returning stateside, he joined the development team at Eclectic Pictures, a production company of Millennium / Nu Image Films. After working on Bobby Z (Paul Walker, Lawrence Fishbourne & Olivia Wilde), My Mom’s New Boyfriend (Meg Ryan, Antonio Banderas & Colin Hanks) and over two dozen other pictures over his tenure, Mark left Eclectic and created Red Shogun Pictures, a new production company dedicated to producing privately financed, independent motion pictures. Since founding RSP, Mark has been involved in the financing, production and distribution of over 20 films. In the summer of 2011, Mark establish R3 International, a vertically integrated entertainment company, which merged with RSP, which would later evolve in 2014, when Mark founded Dauntless Studios, an independent distribution company that acquires feature films and provides turn-key film distribution to independent filmmakers seeking to break away from the standard studio model.
