Perspective | Simon Fox

Perspective is a visual account of victim blaming in cases of sexual assault. The film follows a girl as she attends a party, she is then seen through the view of three different people who each have a differing opinion on her appearance and behaviour in the lead up to the attack, challenging the audience to reconsider their own perspectives that clothing and flirtation can be any justification for an attack. The idea for this short arose from the countless media articles which reported sexual assault but did so in a way that signified the girl was at fault, going into detail such as her outfit or previous sexual history. The thought that she could have brought this on herself seemed absurd but is an opinion that is held by an alarming amount of people.
