Artist's Statement: Deoxyribonucleic acid. DNA. The mysterious molecule that within bears the genetic code of every living organism. Biological information written into every cell of our body. It tells us who we are. It tells us where we came from, and tells us how to operate. Instincts that have developed over billions of years of evolution. In reality, DNA is no different than computer programming language. A set of rules that define a specific outcome. However, just like computers, living beings are imperfect. Glitches happen. This video work attempts to explore the relationship between a technological glitch, and a "biological glitch." A nameless man arrives home late one night to find he is no longer welcome in his own home. He has been rejected. An outside source provoked a "mental glitch." The theme is reflected by intentionally exploiting glitches found in the computer processing of said video. The image falls to pieces. It has a meltdown. It is no longer stable. This technical effect is achieved through a process known as datamoshing. More information on datamoshing can be found here: http://jonsatrom.wordpress.com/2009/02/25/welcome-to-datamosh/
