Elena Stephenson Acting Showreel

Elena is a Northern based actor, who started out acting from a young age in local stage and singing schools in her native Newcastle, moving on to Operatic Societies as she grew older, performing in productions such as Kiss Me Kate, Titanic: the Musical and Gigi, to name a few. Whilst studying at University, the strong passion and deep love for performing Elena had felt when younger was cemented into the desired future path, creating a longing which has not left her; she developed the versatility of her skills in University and out-of-University productions such as playing her favourite role of Ophelia in Hamlet, Breathing Corpses, Medea, Spring Awakening and Lily in the first production of the play ‘Junk’ since the professional one, where came a highlight of her acting career so far when she was personally commended by a close friend of the writer Melvin Burgess. The acting bug will not relent, and she has been pursuing an acting career ever since, relishing in studies of old medieval plays at University, and developing her craft and skills in as many workshops (the majority taken part in, led by Liverpool Everyman Theatre), lectures, performance development, physicality, Shakespeare and acting sessions as possible in as many different areas of acting and performing as possible, including but not limited to: puppetry, physical theatre, improvisation, acting for camera, radio, devising and dance. Elena has performed in various capacities; on screen, stage, in voiceover work, in straight theatre and in musical theatre, still performing with local groups in musicals and plays such as Any Other Name – an original piece written exclusively and shortlisted for RSC Open Stages – Spring Awakening and Into the Woods, alongside performances of more career driven, professional contexts. She has also recently been selected to be a cast member in renowned North-West based Improvisation group, Impropriety. She is now seeking further work in stage, film and television – as the latter two are something she has come to really be enthusiastic and excited about, as well as her first love of theatre – and continues to hone her acting skills by doing as many diverse and exciting projects as possible, across a multitude of media, to gain invaluable experience and to develop and grow as a performer; to add as many strings to her bow as possible, to become the most formidable actress she can be.
