Mother Alone

I wrote this song shortly after my brother died. It affected my Mother deeply. Part of the song has to do with my Mother and Father - who were divorced. One line read (with regard to my father) "and he'd cut all his veins till his blood it would flow." That seems rather gory, but all I was trying to say was that I believe he would atone for his sins if he could. Copyright 1982 Woody Splawn. Lyrics follow. There's a picture of my Mother, Taken when she was younger, And a prettier girl you won't find. And it hangs in a room I've been calling my own, And the look in her eye, Well it just makes me cry. Oh how my Father, He loved her so, He'd turn in his, grave if he only could know, The things that she's suffered alone. Mother I've been thinking of you, I'm sorry for things I've done. If I were a prince that were true, I'd take you up in my arms. Oh how my Father, He loved her so. He'd turn in his grave if he only could know, And he'd cut all his veins till, His blood if would flow, Mother, I've been thinking of you, I'm sorry for things I've done.
