Take your networking off-line. Find film, TV and theater related meetups near you.
I am visiting LA October 12-15 to attend Film Crash in West LA to pick up a screenwriting award the morning of the 13th. I'd like to spend some of the time while there meeting people. I am on the cusp of breaking through, most likely with an Off-Broadway play production. I have scripts for feature and short films, a sitcom, and theater that have been through coverage by industry professionals and accumulated more than a dozen laurels since 2016. I also have had many novels, short fiction, essays, poetry, photo art, and plays published by a variety of small publishers in reviews, anthologies, and e-zines in the last three years. If anyone wants to meet and discuss my projects or your projects the afternoon of October 14, please contact me. Otherwise, I will probably spend the day writing or coloring.
Please join us on Tuesday October 9th from 7-9pm at the McCowan Memorial Library in Pitman, NJ. From 7:00-7:30pm, you can network with your fellow screenwriters and filmmakers. Then at 7:30pm, the craft lecture will begin on From Concept to Outline. After you have decided on a concept and crafted a logline, how do you develop the structure for your film? If you aspire to work professionally as a screenwriter in Hollywood, you will be expected to create outlines on a regular basis. Join us and learn the ins and outs of creating a great outline. After the lecture there will be time for Q&A.
Please join us on Friday October 5th for the 7pm showing of A Star is Born at the AMC Deptford 8 in Deptford, NJ. After the movie, we will discuss the film over food and drinks at a nearby restaurant. Please note, this theater has reserved seating and often sells out in advance. Please try to purchase your tickets online as soon as possible. This is a great opportunity to network and get to know your fellow writers and filmmakers in a fun and casual setting. Additionally, it is common practice among industry pros to see movies in the theater on opening weekends to gauge the audience's reaction. After the movie we will spend time evaluating the storyline and the movie's overall success, or lack there of. Everyone is welcome, including member's guests. Look for us in the lobby after the movie ends.
Hi Stage 32 Writers! The first monthly meetup was a great time, so we're doing another! Hopefully Sycamore Tavern won't be out of Guinness this time because honestly, I was a little heartbroken last month. Come on by Sycamore Tavern on Thursday the 27th to hang out, meet other writers/creators, talk writing, talk movies, hang out with me (Nick), and Allen Roughton, of our Script Services team, and meet Samantha Schifrien, Development Executive at Rosey TV. We'll also, again, be raffling off winner's choice of Script Coverage Notes or a 30 Minute Consultation on your script. So come hang out, make some friends, bring some friends, do some "networking" aka drinking, and I don't know, maybe find a new writing partner.
Whether you are actively writing, or one of those people who are always planning to start, one thing's for sure- you need a location. Can you write at home, work, or anywhere opportunity lends itself? Yes, but often those places are filled with distractions that strangle the imagination and breed procrastination. If you are looking for a serene location, with likeminded creatives, join Assistant Organizer Stephen Lombardo at the SJS monthly Writers Refuge at the McCowan Memorial Library from 6:45-8:30pm.
location and time/date can change if it suits others, but my plan is to set up a meet for like minded people to talk about their world's to other like minded people. If anything positive develops for either person then great but this could be a good move for not just me...

Well, it's the first week of Fall. I am ready for cooler weather and the start of the holidays. Lots going on in the acting community locally. Movies are starting to be filmed and some are finishing up. The Web platform for Media Forge is chugging along. The invitation for film submissions is still open. If you would like to enter your project into the contest and get some free distribution, please go to my facebook page and find the post for submissions. I'll re-post it for everyone. Deward and crew will be filming a war film project soon around DFW. Silhouette the movie is being funded and filmed as we speak. Please contribute if you can on Indiegogo. Other projects are being planned in our area for next month. Also, R.B. Botto, CEO of Stage32.com, is having a free webcast blog meeting on the blog site. You have to register to participate free. You can ask him anything about acting, producing, etc.... https://www.stage32.com/blog/A.... With Halloween coming up, I think a horror film would be a great project to start up. Bring your ideas to the meeting and we'll see what we can do with them. Bring an actor/creative friend with you. See you there.

Hi Stage 32! We're bringing back the monthly Happy Hour meetups. Come on by Sycamore Tavern on Wednesday the 22nd to hang out, meet other writers/creators, talk writing, talk movies, hang out with me (Nick) from our Script Services team, and meet Spencer Robinson, a literary & talent manager from Art/Work Entertainment. We'll be doing a Q&A with Spencer, so bring your questions! We'll even be raffling off winner's choice of Script Coverage Notes or a 30 Minute Consultation on your script (of which Spencer is a big fan of doing). So come hang out, make some friends, do some "networking" aka drinking, and debate me on why I think The Last Jedi is the second best Star Wars movie to date (Empire is still #1) in terms of writing and crafting a story (please don't actually, I don't know how much more I can handle.)
So much is going on lately. I hope you all have been reading my Face book page. I post lots of job announcements and auditions for everyone almost daily now. End of summer going into fall is the best time to film here in Texas. The temperatures are getting cooler and filming is so much nicer outside. We had a nice sized meetup last month at Dickey's BBQ, and got some direction on several projects we are pushing to completion. Endeavor Cinema had a very successful screening of some movies by Adam Dietrich and company. Met several people I had only read about at the screening. We must network to survive in this industry. Sadly, we are loosing the KING, Alan Dallas Brent, back to his motherland, England. Many new productions are manning up to film this month. The VOD channel is still developing, and is looking for content to be posted for viewing. Pull out some of the finished projects you have and enter it with the site through our own James Hammer with Media Forge. Don't forget the Dallas Table with Lindsey Rayl is meeting on Saturday the 11th at Stemm Studios at 3 pm. So many good things going on in DFW. Get you some.... See you at the meetup. Bring a friend. It's free....
