SJS Craft Lecture: Cannes Recap
From screenings to networking, from foreign sales agents to distributors, to navigating the international market, join us on Tuesday May 22 at 7pm in the McCowan Memorial Library in Pitman, NJ and learn all the ins and outs of the world's most prestigious film festival- Cannes. Fresh off the French Riviera, Lisa will recap her adventures at the Cannes Film Festival, where her mystery thriller Dead Water was an Official Selection and a semifinalist, and at the Marche du Film, where she was accepted into the Producer's Workshop.

The next Meetup is the 16th of May, 2018. We are meeting again at Rio Mambos. The manager would like a number for all those going to show up so he can make the space available for us. I have to call him back Monday to confirm the seats required. Last meeting he had double reserved the space for us and a larger group. He honored the reservation for us, but when he has to seat a larger group around the bar, it makes it harder for him and the servers. So, if you can let me know by Monday if you are planning to attend. We may need to change locations again and days for the meetings. We will talk about it at the meeting to see what works better for everyone. I look forward to seeing all of you at the meeting. RSVP, please.

When Juan Robles left to teach overseas we stopped having the Friday Filmmakers Coffee Networking in Las Cruces. This networking opportunity is like the Coffee Days at Beck's Coffee. All creatives from Stage32 are welcome to attend. Bring a friend, they do not need to be a member of stage32 to network with us. SJS Read and Critique Scenes
Please join Assistant Organizer Stephen Lombardo on Wednesday April 25th from 6:45pm-8:45pm at the McCowan Memorial Library for a table read and critique. Please bring a short scene with you to share with the group, or just come to critique.

April 2018 Meetup
This meetup should be a good spring get together. There are a few projects going on all over the metroplex. New projects are being planned, and parts are being cast in some film productions. We just finished filming on location for Dark Eye Films out in the bush. Very adventurous film genre. Many great and moving scenes captured on film. Some behind the scenes photos have been posted on facebook. I posted a couple of photos from the Fanexpo Comic Con we attended in Dallas last week. Ben Affleck and Jason Mamoa were in attendance for photo sessions with fans. Many other stars were there also. Come on out and get involved. Meet some new people coming out to see our group. Mississippi Film Makers Club
Mississippi Film Makers should get to know each other. I meet lots of folks at the Movie Theater. Together we can make $5 Tuesdays at the theater a place to get to know other film makers. This is not a paid thing. I'm just doing this as a way to connect local folks. I meet young and old filmmakers who say "I can't find anyone to work with here." I hate excuses. Lets solve the problem together and make new friends. -josh B
SJS Craft Lecture: From Outline to Scenes
Please join us on Tuesday April 17th from 7-9pm at the McCowan Memorial Library in Pitman, NJ. From 7:00-7:30pm, you can network with your fellow screenwriters and filmmakers. Then at 7:30pm, the craft lecture will begin on From Outline to Scenes. After you have finished your outline, how do you decide which scenes really need to be in your film, and equally as important, which ones don't? While your blueprint may change, most writers benefit from fleshing out their outline and creating a scene list. There are many advantages to having a solid story structure in place, especially later at the rewrite stage. Join us and learn how to take your script from outline to scenes and the benefits of doing so. After the lecture there will be time for Q&A.
Filmmaker Community Mixer - April
The Royal Starr Arts Institute, a non-profit organization helping to build and connect the filmmaking community in Metro Detroit Michigan, has teamed up with Emagine Theaters to host a free to attend networking event on the second Tuesday of every month at Emagine Theaters in Royal Oak, called Filmmaker Community Mixer. Admission to the mixer is absolutely free, business cards and headshots are encouraged. The next mixer will be held on April 10th at Emagine Theaters in Royal Oak. Local director Bruce Clifton will be accepting headshots for his upcoming feature film, and local photographer Dau Yang will be taking headshots.
