I thought this email received from Film freeway would be a great description to describe the meet up. Its directly from my email. If you are interested in coming, please keep in touch because I have not been given the actual time of the event. Even though I haven't received an exact time, a formal heads up was still due because my friends on Stage 32 are part of the reason I continue writing... I mean screenwriting. Here's the link, just in case you haven't seen it...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQUPfRtttEU&t=26s + Dear Howard, Congratulations! Atlanta Playhouse Film Festival has updated the Judging Status of your submission Sewa~Cida Thoughts; The Beginning of the End to Selected. Sewa~Cida Thoughts; The Beginning of the End Selected
Hi Stage 32 Writers! We had to skip October because we were at AFF, hopefully we got to run into you at our party there, but we're back with our Hollywood meetups! Come on by Sycamore Tavern on Tuesday the 27th to hang out, meet other writers/creators, talk writing, talk movies, hang out with me (Nick), and Allen Roughton, of our Script Services team, and meet Tiegen Kosiak, an independent producer. We'll also, again, be raffling off winner's choice of Script Coverage Notes or a 30 Minute Consultation on your script. These are really great ways to get your script in front of someone in the industry, as well as get some feedback that always seems to rock people's worlds. So come hang out, bring friends, make friends while you're there, talk movies, debate Oscar contenders, discuss the craft, and so on!
2 film makers with one shared vision - getting a crew together to make movies here in Luzern! As a brief intro, I came to Switzerland from Canada and have lived in Luzern for the past 3 years. Here, I began to actively pursue my passion for directing. So far, I have made several mini films -of which one was screened in a festival in Geneva. Currently, I am submitting my most recent short film finished this summer, to film festivals world wide. Rex Moribe, came to Luzern from Hawai'i. His recent big project was a documentary feature, "Dear Thalia" which follows a 3-year-old homeless girl and her family living on the streets of Hawai'i. It premiered at the 2015 Hawaii International Film Festival with rave reviews and also won a Social Change Award at the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival. As fate would have, we met here in Luzern and are both motivated to build a local network for anyone who wants to be part of the film making process. If you are interested in* Directing* Writing* Acting* Production* Sound/Music* etc Please join us, we would love to build this group from the ground up with your help. Our first event will be a meet and greet to get to know each other and from there we hope to build. Agenda-Meet and Greet (come prepared with a bit about yourself and what role(s) you would like to do)-Show and Tell (Simone and Rex will show some of their work and tell a bit about their experiences and key learning from their projects)-Q&A-Next steps with the goal to make some movies!! Whether you are actively writing, or one of those people who are always planning to start, one thing's for sure- you need a location. Can you write at home, work, or anywhere opportunity lends itself? Yes, but often those places are filled with distractions that strangle the imagination and breed procrastination. If you are looking for a serene location, with likeminded creatives, join Assistant Organizer Stephen Lombardo at the SJS monthly Writers Refuge at the McCowan Memorial Library from 6:45-8:30pm.
The change in the weather is allowing more films to be done in better conditions. Most Halloween themed projects are hurrying to completion, and holiday themed shows are getting ready to start. It is a good time to be involved in the season's film offerings.I have been interacting with several new faces coming into the film community in our area. Please be understanding and assist some of these hardworking newbies. They are looking at us, as we looked at the seasoned actors when we began. They deserve to be able to show us what they have to offer. You may be surprised to see what a little encouragement will do for them and you. We need to stress the need for networking in this industry. I can remember when people came into our group to meet up with our members, and really "took off" into all sorts of projects. Remember when you were helped by other actors? I have three requests to use my land for filming some upcoming projects. Please let me know which week you will be filming so we can work out times for you. I can meet with you for scouting sets if you give me notice ahead of time. Bring me the script at this meetup and we can set up times or email or PM my fb account to schedule shoots planned before the meeting. Hope to see you guys at the meetup and always bring a friend.

I am visiting LA October 12-15 to attend Film Crash in West LA to pick up a screenwriting award the morning of the 13th. I'd like to spend some of the time while there meeting people. I am on the cusp of breaking through, most likely with an Off-Broadway play production. I have scripts for feature and short films, a sitcom, and theater that have been through coverage by industry professionals and accumulated more than a dozen laurels since 2016. I also have had many novels, short fiction, essays, poetry, photo art, and plays published by a variety of small publishers in reviews, anthologies, and e-zines in the last three years. If anyone wants to meet and discuss my projects or your projects the afternoon of October 14, please contact me. Otherwise, I will probably spend the day writing or coloring.
Please join us on Tuesday October 9th from 7-9pm at the McCowan Memorial Library in Pitman, NJ. From 7:00-7:30pm, you can network with your fellow screenwriters and filmmakers. Then at 7:30pm, the craft lecture will begin on From Concept to Outline. After you have decided on a concept and crafted a logline, how do you develop the structure for your film? If you aspire to work professionally as a screenwriter in Hollywood, you will be expected to create outlines on a regular basis. Join us and learn the ins and outs of creating a great outline. After the lecture there will be time for Q&A.
Please join us on Friday October 5th for the 7pm showing of A Star is Born at the AMC Deptford 8 in Deptford, NJ. After the movie, we will discuss the film over food and drinks at a nearby restaurant. Please note, this theater has reserved seating and often sells out in advance. Please try to purchase your tickets online as soon as possible. This is a great opportunity to network and get to know your fellow writers and filmmakers in a fun and casual setting. Additionally, it is common practice among industry pros to see movies in the theater on opening weekends to gauge the audience's reaction. After the movie we will spend time evaluating the storyline and the movie's overall success, or lack there of. Everyone is welcome, including member's guests. Look for us in the lobby after the movie ends.
