About Paul

Paul is a writer from Tynewdd in the Rhondda Valley. He has been part of the CBBC New Voices initiative and features on the BAFTA Rocliffe Forum list for children's writing.

His latest project is 'A Hidden Portrait' a short documentary he is directing and producing about a patient who spent most of his life inside an institution. He only found life outside the hospital as the subject in a painted portrait completed after his death that now hangs in the Welsh National Collection. The short will premiere on BBC Two in February 2018.

Since learning that films and tv had to be produced by someone when Crowded House filmed the video for "Locked Out" in his Nan's street Paul has wanted to be in the creative industries. At the age of 13 he was housebound by a serious accident and turned to film to help him escape. It was then he decided he wanted to write stories that would help people escape.

In 2014 Paul wrote a screenplay called "End of Line" about a movie obsessed valleys boy who has to overcome his obsession with romantic comedies in order to win his first love. The screenplay finished in the Top 25 of the Launchpad Screenwriting competition, the Top 4 of the BAFTA Rocliffe Forum for Children's Writing and was a Finishing Line Script Competition 2016 semi-finalist.

He also had his first short stories published by We Are Cardiff Press as part of their "42b Dark Journeys in Cardiff" collection.

In 2016 Paul's sitcom "Agents of L.O.V.C.R.A.F.T" co-written with Matt Troy was a Grand Finalist at the Sitcom Trials at the Edinburgh Festival. The Raindance & Miami Webfest nominated web-series "Cynic" which Paul co-created also ended it's run after three years in 2016.
