I purchased this book a good 12 years ago but recently revisited it.
Anyway, feedback on my horror spec from the few people in my personal life that know the title to it and are aware of it's story and premise has been extremely positive, as I don't tell everybody the title & logline - it really depends on the person. But I'm beginning to hear some really crazy things and I even have some stories to tell, but that will come later. It also seems that the work's original title
is really striking a chord, whereas people see it or hear it, knowing that what's beyond it is a blueprint to what could be an original mainstream horror movie - and one that is going to go beyond the traditional slasher and do things that we've never seen before -
That is what I wrote. That is how it's going to read... I tell them...
and there's this instantaneous intrigue that I see in their eyes... and they don't even need to hear the logline.
I've seen this kind of engagement during a few pitches of mine now. I'm also hearing from my muse that the high-concept/ hook - may be so good that it should be written as a novel - or a novella for that matter, as it will be shorter from what I have planned.
I've been chipping away at writing chapters, or at least bits of what could
be chapters, off and on over the years - but the screenplay came first, because when I first thought of the idea I only saw it as a movie... (and something that could potentially be really scary) as I tend to think visually as well.
Perfect. So I'm kind of doing the opposite approach - I wrote the screenplay first - it already exists... the MOVIE... already exists - and I'm now in the process of fleshing out the novella, but not specifically adapting from the screenplay... just expanding upon it...
FROM WHAT I HAVE PLANNED:
There will be 12 chapters overall.
I'm naming all of the chapters - and I may self publish down the road.
