Great to have you here, Torrie! :)

Hello Torrie. Welcome to Stage 32 - it's never too late, I always say. What project are you working on right now, anything we might have seen? Also I'd love to see some of the videos from that drone - that sounds like a lot of fun. Have you seen the ok go video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1ZB_rGFyeU

Thank you Shannon. Have a wonderful week.

Tomasz, Thank you for commenting. I just wrapped up the Physician's summit at the Belmont Hotel in Scottsdale, AZ. Not my normal kind of work but I like to work on projects no matter what they are as often as I can land them. I don't live by a rule that " I only shoot this or that". I love what I do so for me when I am given an opertunity to do what I love I go do it. The Dji drone is awesome. I am in the learning process of flying it right now. So it will be sometime before I am fully comfortable to market myself as a drone operator. It is pretty complex as far as I am concerned to learn how to fly, shoot, and keep track of battery life, card space, and signal distance as well as focusing on shooting what your after. There are a ton of variable that goes along with it as well. like wind, and if it's morning, mid day, or evening. It seems to me that the time, temps, and conditions really play a part in flying the Dji. I figure that by summer I will be fully ready to market myself as a Dji operator/owner. It does shoot nice pic's but I am not really liking the curvature on the edges of the pic's and video that happen. It can be fixed in post but I just think that shouldn't be an issue. Once I master this thing I am going to up grade to their newest one. everything I have read about it shows no problems with that. Once I get clean footage I will be more then happy to share. I will put it up on my page here. It is a lot of fun to learn and own. Torrie

Tomasz, I just watched that video and wow that was great drone work. Loved it. Right now I am practicing on navigating between dense tree's, and in the forest. Do you do Dji/drone operation?

Tomasz Mieczkowski

I wish I did drone ops. I was looking at the Phantom 2 few weeks back, and as I always do, I left the browser page on a checkout page considering how much I'd be using it... :) I've read up quite a bit about it, and it seems like such an awesome tool. And yes, once you're proficient with it, I see how this could be a highly marketable skill. From the software perspective I'm sure the tools will get much better with time - software and hardware alike. Longer lasting batteries, better signal and status indicators are probably just a version away. Having no limitation for work type is also a great rule to live by in some occupations. Physician's summit was probably exciting for many as well. :)

Tomasz, I would wait if I were you to buy the newest dji. I'm saving up for that huge multi blade one as you can get a regular dslr on it and also use it indoors without loss of the gps ability. I do believe that is bigger then the Phantom series, it also has a longer battery life and better stability. I have the Phantom which I think is a great learning drone. I have never flown anything remotely so really if I happen to crash it up because of inexperience then I'm only out a little money where as the newest one's cost much more and crashing it would just break my heart. Yes, the summit was good. Boring but good. All the people I worked with were fantastic. Networking was good as well which always helps even if the job is boring. LOL What have you been working on as of late?

Tomasz Mieczkowski

Thanks for the advice. I just want something that is programmable. If I can get my hands on the source code, I'm happy... :) I'm mainly dealing with web development right now. Moved to LA about a year ago from NYC - never thought I'd be saying this, but I'm also trying to learn a bit about screenwriting. Stage 32 has so many opportunities, and I am not just a one job kind of a guy. I do a little stand up here and there if time permits, but all in all, keeping busy.

Torrie Ann Allen

Screenwriting, that is great. I don't think I have what it takes to do that part of the creative process. Stage32 for me has been great even for the short time I have been apart of this wonderful community. I haven't gotten any work as of yet from here. But, being apart of a community of like minded people is awesome. How are you liking LA over NYC? I'm from Southern California originally and have considered moving back since work here in Arizona is real hard to come by. And I'm not really wanting to work for a TV station again, as the limits me from doing film work or other spontaneous jobs that come up. Do you think that the film credits will be approved in California again? I was reading about the Gov. signing a bill that will bring film back to California through tax incentives.
