Acting : Response to Job Posting by Chaitanya Kulkarni

Response to Job Posting

Dear actors/models, I have recently posted my first job posting and I am negatively surprised with the response. From a community as big as the stage32, I was expecting a very good response for these paid positions but the fact is there are only 3 applicants. I know that many of you might have been busy or might have thought that this job does not match to what you are looking for, yet 3 applicants only is poor response! My question is, are the actors really looking for work here?

Chaitanya Kulkarni

The gig is GLOBAL and the location does not matter. In fact the company headquarter is in the US. So I am looking for actors in US/Canada and also rest of the world.

Eoin O'Sullivan

Hi Chaitanya. Perhaps it is the wording of your job posting that is off putting. Not many actors or models would feel encouraged to apply, when the standard requested is that 'you need not be a very good actor/model'. I'm sure most actors on here have studied the craft to some level and take their chosen profession seriously. The remuneration for a commercial based on percentage sales, may also be off putting. Something to think about. Kind Regards, Eoin

Chaitanya Kulkarni

Oh!! Thanks Eoin for pointing that out. Yes, that might have been the problem. Actually the campaign needs a common-man-look and does not need an "acting person". Rather the models/actors should behave (walk-talk) like they do in their everyday life. That's what I needed to say. Also, I am ready to offer this position to any newbie or anybody who is enthusiastic but never had obtained any formal training. Since English is my second language, I might have used wrong words to create this kind of misunderstanding. About the remuneration: This is an internet based campaign and we have a tracking system for tracking the traffic and sales generated by each advt. I think I have not mentioned the exact percentage on my job posting. Well, we are offering 12% of company income generated form the model's video. Thank you for pointing that out.

Richard "RB" Botto

Completely agree. Great point.

Cyrille Autin

No, actors don't really look for work on Stage 32 it's more of a presence thing, but if you see an actor you like for your project, you should contact him and make a proposition.

Richard "RB" Botto

Couldn't be more false, Cyrille. Actors are landing gigs through our JOBS section daily. Those who work the site reap the rewards.

Cyrille Autin

Good to hear ;)

Leanne Sampson-Bowden

I think you would get more response on StarNow because it is set out really easily. I for one do not know how to look up jobs and do many other thing on Stage32 yet.

Richard "RB" Botto

Fantastic post, Olivia.

Richard "RB" Botto

That's what it's all about, Olivia. I, for one, appreciate it!

Suzanne Bronson

I don't know what your job posting was, I haven't seen it. But I always respond to every paid acting job that I fit. However, there are not many in Arizona and most want locals. But if you check out my profile and have a part you think I might be right for, I would definately would love to audition for you. I never turn down an opportunity. Also, about the percentage thing- no go. I have been stiffed by way too many theatres who promise portion of ticket sales.

Richard "RB" Botto

I can vouch for Suzanne being as passionate and dedicated as they come.

Ron Becks

where is the film's location going to be?

King Roozie

I look for prospects quite frequently and have only been offered "extra" positions, lol, when i'm no-one's "extra". Looks like only union actors are considered primary I guess.

King Roozie

I stopped asking for opportunities and figured out, by God's grace, how I can create my own opportunities since directors are so specific as to who they place in a film. All a person need is the right fanbase, then money and opportunities follow. It works like that in the entertainment business all the way around. Once my fanbase reaches it's prime, everything I touch should generate revenue. Unfortunately many actors are getting weary of the selection process for primary rolls and are venturing off into their own projects instead; such as the example above. That could be another reason for the small response.

Chaitanya Kulkarni

Thank you all for your response and comments. Yes, some of them are really helpful and I'll note them for future. The deadline for application was till 10th of this month and I am happy that I got 15 applicants from stage32.

John Ohkuma

I think Stage 32 is going to be huge. There are a lot of kinks to work out, and it needs to gain more members, but it's going to take off. Right now it's a lot like LinkedIn, where nothing really gets done and people are making 'connections' they don't have in real life, but it's mostly what you make of it.

Suzanne Bronson

Thank you RB, that is very nice of you. :)

I expect the same low applicants as my criteria is very specific to the task. All is well.
