Introduce Yourself : Need a Word-Arrangement? by Josh Barkey

Need a Word-Arrangement?

A few years ago I left a salaried job to live off savings and write full-time. I've been fortunate enough to find directors who liked my stuff and we've made a few shorts. Here's a teaser-trailer for TWO FOR TEA, which I made with director Ben Joyner: https://vimeo.com/113861980 Ben and I are moving toward production on a feature called GINSENG, about an aging alcoholic who angers territorial locals when he drags his estranged son on a camping trip into the Appalachians. Please check out my profile for links to script-samples, and let me know if you need to hire a good writer. Cheers!

Ah... so you know the misery :-)

Sarah Bitely

I'm intrigued! When are you releasing Two for Tea?

Josh Barkey

Thanks for your interest, Sarah. I think the Nashville Film Fest is the only one we've submitted to that won't allow pre-internet release. So if we're in there, then we'll probably wait 'til after the festival (April 16-25) to release online.

Shawn Speake

Good stuff, Josh. I'm excited to see the rest. Keep us posted. 2015 is gonna be a great year for you. Happy Holidays

Sarah Bitely

Very cool, well I'm looking forward to seeing it in the Spring then!

Jennifer Oakes

I didn't quite understand what two for tea was about, I'm assuming it's a thriller? Only because of the music? And an unhappy lady.. but it looks well done, I was just left with wanting to know what it's about.. wish I had your production skills!

Josh Barkey

The production skills here belong entirely to the director and his crew, Jennifer. As to what it's about, here's the synopsis from the vimeo page: "When the law shows up to take a retired schoolteacher's grandson into custody, things take a turn for the worst. In this brooding tale about the darker side of unconditional love, an indomitable (and perhaps slightly unhinged) grandmother pits herself against the forces that could tear her family apart." You can also read the first three pages of the script on my script-sample page, here: http://joshbarkeythree.blogspot.com/
