Introduce Yourself : Screenwriter and Professional Saxophonist by Ron Horton

Ron Horton

Screenwriter and Professional Saxophonist

My screenwriting started in Portland, OR, out of the desire to write a script for my daughter, who is an actress/director in NYC. Without any idea how to write a screenplay I put the words on paper. While in the car I heard an ad for a screenwriting course by Bill Johnson at Mount Hood Community College. The next day I signed up for it and found out I really Didn't have any idea how to write a screenplay. My story was a great one and ended up in the quarter finals of the first major contest I entered. During my class I signed up for the Willamette Writers Group, headed by multi-film credited Cynthia Whitcomb. All this was some seventeen years ago. Even though my screenplays have not sold as of yet I'm still receiving rave reviews from producers who have asked me to send them anything I write. Writing took back seat to a major medical problem with my step-daughter and our move to Vermont three years ago. The burner is now lit and I expect to have two more screenplays ready for review and sale in a couple months. Yesterday I listened to my first Stage 32 online class. Well done RB. Looking forward to the day I can walk that red carpet.

Love the story and your creative journey, Ron. What I love most is that you decided to follow your dreams and you haven't stopped. I love that you are still in it to win it. I do hope your stepdaughter is doing better! Lastly, thank you so much for listening to On Stage With RB. Means a great deal to me. See you on the red carpet, my friend!
