Introduce Yourself : Actor in Hollywood South by Benjamin Alany

I've been a member of this fine site for a while. Some of you know me, some of you don't. Things have been active lately, just wanted to say hello and share some thoughts about that. As I type, I'm sitting in a coffee shop in New Orleans, after a SAG commercial callback. I traveled here from Austin for the audition, and stayed for the callback. I got the audition via actors access. I submitted. No agent, no manager. I made the choice to come down here, met some great people, made some friends and lasting connections that I may well know for years to come. All because I made the choice to work, and I have cool and supportive friends whose encouragement has meant a lot. One thing 2015 is showing me: this is the year the work happens in earnest, not just occasionally. I've had plenty of training, more than some actors ever get. Not stopping entirely, but it now has to take a back seat to working on set. That's the focus, and I'll go where I need to go, do what I need to do, to make it happen. Doesn't matter if I get an agent or not, it's still happening. I've been directly contacted by filmmakers several times this year already. If they want me, they are finding me. Wishing you all the best in your journey as well, wherever it may take you. As for me: I'm a working actor. This is my career, and I've proven it time and time again. I'm going to keep right on with it.
