Composing : Centralised preset browsing. by Tim Price

Centralised preset browsing.

Hello! I've been looking for options to make the process of auditioning presets from different virtual synths more efficient, and wondered if anybody here had any suggestions. I've been looking for a program that would work as a central location to search for and audition presets from any synth in my collection (or as many as possible), as this seemed to be a more effective solution than opening up a selection of possible synths on different tracks and then searching through the presets of each synth in turn. I discovered a couple of options, including BigTick's Zen , which I have tried but I haven't been able to getting it running on my system. Does anybody know of any alternative solutions?

Thanks for this Tim! This is an interesting problem, one I have not thought of before... Not sure you can "audition presets" without actually loading the VST/AU synth, as the program actually needs loading. When you have down time, I'd suggest just making channel strips (or similar) of the patches you like and then using cubase/logic/ or any DAW to sort them so you can play from there. A lot of it is getting used to the VST/AUs you have. Good problem though - I have actually been working with my business partner on a solution to the "preset" thing for a while, a bit different of an approach. I'll share soon what that is. Best, Sam

Hi Sam! I suspected that might be the case, but I was just curious to know if there were any other tools that might help. Look forward to hearing about what your working on! Thanks again for the advice - really appreciated!
