Introduce Yourself : New Mexico Film Foundation by Dirk Norris

Hi I am Dirk Norris founder and Executive Director of the New Mexico Film Foundation. Our mission is to help grow the independent film industry in New Mexico while offering financial assistance and educational opportunities to New Mexico independent filmmakers. We are celebrating our first year in operation. In that time we awarded two $5000 grants. One, a screenwriting grant in partnership with George R,R, Martin (Game of Thrones) and the other a filmmaker grant made possible by Lockheed Martin. We also completed our "Life in New Mexico" media project meat to bring attention to post production in New Mexico and we held an actors showcase. I am very excited about the coming year. We already have planned our next Actor Showcase which will give 20 NM actors a chance to do a directed audition on stage in front of an audience with talent agents and casting directors as judges. We have brought Laura Gardner from the Howard Fine acting studio out to do Authenticity workshops and Jilann Spiztmiller (Sweet Dreams, Shakespeare Behind Bars) will be doing a workshop on Documentary Story Tell. All the while we are continuing to raise funds so that we can support our wonderful and talented film makers who make New Mexico their home. If you are in the state, you may see me on the street corner with a cardboard sign. We just got signed up with Google Nonprofit Adwords so if you are doing a search for independent films on Google you may see our donation request come up. I am still working my way around Stage 32 but so far it looks like it had done a lot of good for a lot of you people out there. Thanks for this opportunity.
