Crew needed for AL CAPONE biopic film

Hello everyone! I am in pre-production phase for my next project entitled "CAPONE". Many films have been made attempting to tell the story of Al Capone, but none really show the in-depth story of the man who became the notorious Chicago organized crime boss at only age 26. Most famously known are "The Untouchables", or the HBO series "Boardwalk Empire". None of these, however, seem to portray the character of Al Capone as he really was. I want to make a classic film that will revolutionize the character and his legacy, just the way Batman was revolutionized in Christopher Nolan's the "Dark Knight" trilogy, showing a more mysterious, dark raw portrayal of the character. Although he was a ruthless gangster, people around loved him for his generosity. During the Great Depression, he opened the first soup kitchen of Chicago, feeding 3,000 people a day. I'd like to direct a short version first to pitch for potential feature length release. If you would like to collaborate with me on this project, please contact me! I am in search of a crew for these positions: -Make up -Location scout -Director of Photography -Sound Sincerely, Giovanni Tartaglia Director/Writer www.giovannitartaglia.com INSTAGRAM: @Italianfilmaker

Where are you shooting? NYC? Chicago?

Giovanni Tartaglia

Would love to shoot in Chicago, but I am based in San Diego/LA!

Debbie Croysdale

Wow, this sounds fantastic. All the best, in obtaining all needed for full feature.

JD Hartman

How will you get the flavor of "old" New York or Chicago? Stoundstages and backlots?

Giovanni Tartaglia

JD I am hoping to find a good Location Scout Manager that can find me places that resemble Brooklyn and Chicago. If not, then I will have to rely on backlots. It will be challenging but not impossible! I have some great visuals in my mind...just have to make them become reality now!

JD Hartman

In modern film making, it's often cheaper to shoot on the actual location than to find a re-creation of one. Universal and other studios, no doubt have New York and Chicago backlot streets, but can you or anyone afford he studio fees for a short, a teaser?

Andrew Sobkovich

No doubt budget will be an issue. It is really expensive to dress for the twenties, clothes, cars, signs, everything you can see will need to be changed or modified and that costs. There are a number of ways you can contain the costs, but the most successful first step will be to keep as much as you can indoors. That way you deal only with furniture, costumes and make-up. There are ways to use period footage, i.e. Zelig, that can be fun but take a lot of research. Using VFX for set extension and modification is certainly feasible. But both of those cost. Careful consideration of costs during writing with liberal doses of imagination thrown in should come up with an approach you can afford. If you are going to do a short, trailer, presentation, or some combination, then think of what you can deliver at the finished quality of your proposed picture. The images you deliver are the ones that will stick in people’s heads. That will be the look and feel of your movie. What you show them needs to be your best. Interesting challenge. Revising the image of Capone sounds a little like the planet from the original Star Trek series in the episode “A Piece of the Action”.

Do you need a hair stylist?

Richard "RB" Botto

There's a JOBS section for this, Giovanni. You can access it from the top menu bar. You'll get a much better response there.

Giovanni Tartaglia

Thanks for the suggestions!! Cynthia I appreciate your consideration, but we do have a hairstylist on the project.
