Animation : Looking For Assistance. by Ted Blasche

Looking For Assistance.

Looking for an agent to act as intermediary with Laika. I have an Animated Family Script that I think would be a great fit for them but they don't accept unrepresented scripts. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Hi Ted -- do let us know if you succeed! The rest of us storming the gates of closed-shop studios would love to know of any approach that increases the likelihood of getting a read. I too have a family-friendly script that would work fine in mixed live+animation, or 100% animated.

I'm in the same boat. Trying to get a kid's show on Disney Junior. No unsolicited materials. Those of us who have the ideas cannot get in it seems.

I might have mentioned in other S32 lounges, but my approach is to knock a good screenplay together, then set it aside but use it as the framework for a middle-grade children's novel. In the course of fleshing out the novel with good "production values", both story and screenplay end up greatly improved! Then hey, presto, submit the MG novel to the dozens of lit agencies that do take unsolicited ms. Even a few decent publishers will take 'em. If & when your kidlit hits the shelves you'll be in a much better position to have your script shopped around.

Thanks, That's what I'm going to do.
