Introduce Yourself : Vandana Kataria - Production Designer, Director and now learning to write for the screen. by Vandana Kataria

Hello everyone. I'm a freelance PD and Director working out of Bombay in India. I've so far earned a bit of a name for myself within the industry and audiences as a PD. However I've wanted to direct a film for sometime now but am unable to find a writer who is willing to collaborate with me or develop some of the ideas that I do have. Right now all my stories/ ideas are about dysfunctional families/ groups that are torn apart, but eventually come together to find love and acceptance in each other. I suppose it's a theme close to me and I am trying to find solutions or a moment of catharsis through these stories. Presently I'm writing my first feature length screenplay more out of a necessity than the sheer desire of writing. Though I have to say it has been a very interesting journey of reading, writing, and learning, but mostly coming face to face with my darkest fears. And I am pleased to tell you that I am finally about to finish it and can't wait to show it around to know how the experts in the field react. Mainly other writers and producers. I joined the Stage 32 network with the hope that I may make new connections and find people who I can share my professional ideals with, and maybe just maybe collaborate with some.
