Composing : WOFF Soundtrack Expansion by Matt Milne

WOFF Soundtrack Expansion

I thought i'd update and introduce the group to what i'm currently working on. The award-winning WW1 combat flight simulator 'Wings over Flanders Fields' is getting a 1-hour soundtrack expansion. This makes more than 3 hours of music for this industry-leading title, the previous 2-hour soundtrack having helped to see WoFF to victory over its competition 'Rise of Flight' and 'First Eagles'. It has always been and will continue to be the most enjoyable scoring experience to date. Taking a whole World War, and introducing it to a new generation in an exciting and creative way, is the stuff dreams are made of. I'm hoping to make this my third full album, to be released sometime early next year. Featuring full orchestra and choir, to be produced in around 6 days, on a zero-dollar budget it presents a production challenge and features all-digital equipment, processes and techniques. a 5-minute sample https://soundcloud.com/matt-milne-8/allegiance-and-devotion

A preview of the updated WOFF soundtrack. 5 minutes from the estimated hour-long expansion to the original soundtrack. You'll have to wait for release, to hear the rest. Keep on flying.

That's excellent Matt! Have you completed the album? Or is it something you're working on now?! Was this a film / series? Was it aired?

Matt Milne

Video Game, originally based on the ancient combat flight sim 3. Currently working on the album, done about 12 minutes of music today alone.

Hi Matt, congratulations for the work, but why zero budget for such a big project?

Matt Milne

new media baby, that's the way it is. I get the epic, but terminally short of cash.

Matt Milne

after 4 days the soundtrack sat at 44 minutes, with 2 trailer pieces remaining, it has been an awesome project, and a great adventure.

Hey Matt, beautiful diminuendo at about 3:00. Love the timps and percussion work towards the end of the track, too. I don't know if you've done much flying in small planes... I have, and you've captured the feeling of being "up there": the quiet moments where you feel the world stop for a moment, and the bigger moments where lots of things are happening at once and it's a total thrill. Great work!

Matt Milne

Thanks Susan, never been in a small plane, but have thought about it often (what is it with composers and flying?) . I aimed for a quiet, less cliché-laden score, focusing on people and events. The big bass drum features in only 2 tracks, and snare is virtually non-existent. Just finishing off the trailer tracks, before final delivery.
