Screenwriting : Character depth...2D Can be just as effective. by Robby Haynes

Character depth...2D Can be just as effective.

Plump 3D characterisations dumped on us from the opening credits, like a tumultuous, tsunami of emotion & attitude can be just as detrimental to a plot line as an inhibited, unrealised 3D character, with the depth of a macrocosm. Your characters should reflect real life, walking, talking human beings (unless they're not) with real world feelings, desires & wisdom. "Space Bandits - Fight For Extant" SDK

Maybe, but how would you define 2D and 3D characters and what examples would you suggest for you 'tumutuous tsunami'?

Bill Costantini

I prefer characters who are well-rounded with diametrically-opposed traits and beliefs that consequently can lead to unexpected actions and choices. Isn't that how most people are in real-life, too?
