Celtx vs Fade In - Screenwriting Software

Hi all, I'm new to Stage 32 and hope to participate much and contact with people who talk about movies and projects. I have a doubt about screenwriting software. Stay with something known (Celtx) or try something new (Fade In). What's your opinion about these programs? I have long used Celtx but I hear very good reviews of Fade In. I'm thinking of changing.

Michael Scott

I don't like Celtx. I haven't used it in years but felt it wasn't very integrated. I've never tried Fade In. I've been using Scrivener for a few years and am very happy with it. The are several tutorials besides the one that comes with it, videos, and a For Dummies book. They may even offer a free trial period.

Michael, thank you very much for your reply. I've heard great things about Scrivener for writing novels. I try, it can be a very interesting option.

Steve Cleary

I'm using Celtx, but only because it's cheap. They don't have a find/replace feature which is a big fail!

Hugo, there has also been a ton of discussions about screenwriting software on the site. You could easily do a general search by topic in the Lounge and all related threads will be listed. Hope that helps. :)

I love Fade In. There is a trial version available and if you like it, the Pro version is very reasonably priced. It imports and exports in a number of formats (including fdx) but my favourite feature is its seamless integration with Dropbox - all my scripts are synchronised across my devices and I can work anywhere. I like Celtx for pre-production. I like Fade In for screenwriting.

Thank you very much to all for your comments. I'm testing Scrivener & Fade In, very satisfied with them. I love that Fade In allows export in many formats.

Interesting Victor. I'll try the program. Thanks!
