I was happy to be invited to share the tatami with long term aikido artists. The opportunity arose in Laajasalo - a harbour island in East Helsinki. Among other things, it's known for once glorious, now withered and abandoned mansions whose presence casts a curious shade on the history and present of the area. The club which invited me uses Yatagarasu - a mythical three-legged raven as their emblem, a token which I guess is somehow fitting. The practice hall of the club was well-lit and really nice, it had fairly recently been renovated with great care. The seminar itself left me with a warm feeling. It was great fun to engage in Aikido practice both with new faces and old buddies - some of us go back to the early 80's. Here's a photo from the seminar, and by following this link, you can find more impressions from the dojo. http://www.yatagarasu.fi/
