No real discussion here. Just ecstatic to say that I secured my first paid screenwriting gig. It feels so damn good to achieve something I've been working toward. Now to keep the ball rolling.

Thanks everyone! Andrew, it was luck. After moving back to my hometown I did a little digging around and found the two main groups for casting calls/filmmakers/screenwriters to find gigs and post gigs. A small upstart production company here posted in one of the groups that they were looking for someone to write a web series about a somewhat nerdy teenager trying to get the attention of the girl he likes--series is also a web series with a message. I posted something along the lines of: "This sounds like my high school story. I'm intrigued". They were too. I shared a sample, and we got to talking.
