"First 10 Pages." Just got the email... Just submitted my first 10!
I hope nothing but great things for everyone in this community. Please take advantage of all avenues, you never know when one may lead to a door that (only you) can breach!
Jody, YOU are a rare breed among the (many) creatives. I hope you get everything you deserve in this adventure, and I too hope that you find the time to pat yourself on the back for what you've done for not just other writers, but for yourself! God's speed, Jody!
Hope is great for sustaining dreams through the dark days, but action is required to make them a reality. Congrats on submitting and taking that action. I hope you receive some great feedback, Stephen!
Thank you, Andrea! I am committed to this. - Not like growing up in the 80's and only listening to 'Hair Nation,'… I’m more like, buying the Blue Ray, DVD of "Over the Top." Committed!
Good luck Stephen. You never know what a ten page submission might lead to. I submit ten pages to a studio and was hired as a Staff Writer. I quit shortly after because I didn't want to do this for a living. Shortly after that I submitted another ten pages of action scenes to a producer and his company hired me to adapt a novel. Anyway, keep up the good work and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Wow, Dan...Interesting story. Wonder if you might consider writing a guest blog about that some day. Sounds like a terrific "Create your own opportunities" story.
Hey guys. We received these two questions quite a bit yesterday. Thought I would provide the answers in this thread as well: Do I Need to Have a Completed Screenplay to Get Notes? No. This product is as much for those who have completed screenplays is it is for those who are trying to work out an idea, the path to their inciting incident or their first act. As long as you have at least 10 pages of completed work, you can submit. For those who have completed scripts, however, we encourage you to upload the entire script. If the executive is compelled to continue reading, you will get a review on the entire script at no extra charge. My Inciting Incident Happens on Page 12. Will the Exec Read That Far? Yes. These are executives who have read literally thousands of scripts in their careers. They will know where the natural break is and will read to that point (and beyond if compelled).
@Travis. I sent it in to our Happy Writers for the first 10 pages. I just received my 'notes' on them and they were straight to the point... Just what I needed to hear. Bottom line? I'm VERY pleased with the results. Both speed and honesty is what I had hoped for, and regardless of expectations, (they) exceeded em' both. I recommend it to all.
I should add, I have used the Happy Writers coverage services 3 times. Two for 1st 10 pages on my scripts and one full script development notes on a script I'm involved in on a producing level. As someone who has been around for a while and used other services around the web, these notes have been superior on every level. No fat. No BS. Straight shot of reality and notes to improve things, not just criticisms. I've used Agustine Calderon, Maggie Lane and Mary Cybriwsky.
Hi Rachel. "First 10 pages" is a coverage/notes program offered by Stage 32 Happy Writers. An industry executive of your choice will read the first ten pages of your screenplay for feedback and consideration. Here's the link again: https://www.stage32.com/happy-writers/coverage. ;)
Aaaah. OK. I didn't realize it was a pay for read consultation. I already have excellent professional coverage/notes from an industry producer for this script. I am actually now looking for help in creating another fight scene to balance pacing in this script....based on the coverage/recommendation. I am unfortunately experiencing writers block for this scene and am thinking it wouldn't hurt to consult a stunt fight choreographer...or look for suggestions...
Shaunda,if you would like another pair of eyes on it, feel free to send it to me and I will let u know my thoughts for what they're worth...I'm struggling with a fight scene in my own...experiencing writers block so I have a wee bit of time to do a 10pg read for you :)
@Rachel Paul For a 10 page review it's ok..... When I first submitted it I didn't think in terms of first draft should be a final draft, being ready to sell. I thought of it as a first draft and they will review it and tell me how it could be better. I don't feel like I got that from the 10 page review. it lacked detail..So I guess you need the development with a coach package if you want that..But just for them to review and give you some bits of advice..it was ok..
Yeah..there's not much real constructive feedback but it was just for 10 pages. I'm not worried about it. I immediately submitted it to 2 festivals and was a finalist, then selected for the Oaxaca Film Festival, and a semifinalist for Scriptalooza. I changed the title from Uprising, to The Terrorist, to Wearing of the Green, it's current incarnation
If I submitted the first 10 pages of my screenplay to an Executive and got positive feedback. Should I try to pitch the project to this same Executive?

Thanks RB but there is really not an interesting story. I just submitted some sample of my writing and apparently they didn't think I sucked.

Good work my friend.
Rachel, you can submit them via -- Happy Writers.
Hi Stephen...I must be an idiot...I cannot see a 10 pages submission button...What is it that I am missing? Doh!

It's the first option on this page, Rachel. 2nd option is full script notes. https://www.stage32.com/happy-writers/coverage

I submitted scripts for the 10 pages review..Im still waiting to hear back.. Thinking Positive!
Anxious to hear, Shaunda! I've sent (two) more Pilots for the "First 10 Pages" last week.
I received my feed back....although, I expected a little more coaching..."shrugs" it was accurate. Still waiting on feedback from the other one...
