Introduce Yourself : Retired by Jack N. Young

Jack N. Young

Retired

I'm a retired film person and don't get on here much. Almost 90 years old so all I can contribute here is over 65 years of work in our industry. A Hollywood stuntman for 15 years - 1947 through 1962. Help run Old Tucson Studios in Tucson for 12 years then went out behind the camera in many different positions. I worked as an Extra Handler, Location Manager, then got into the DGA and became a Production Manager and Assistant Director. I also did some casting. So that is my life story. I guess I enjoy braggin' a bit but I'm told if it is all true then it's not bragging. Since I spent my early years working on those old black and white westerns, I felt I knew enough about them that I could write a script. I wrote a western called "Sunset at Ironwater Flats". But, then I found out that getting it financed wasn't as easy as I thought. I tried getting it to all the great producers I had worked with but soon found they couldn't read it unless it was submitted by an Agent. I can't get an Agent for one property, so there you have it. Good luck to the rest of you.

Hi Jack! I would really enjoy hearing about your experience.

Welcome, Jack! As has been said, brag away! Your stories deserve to be told. When it comes to "Sunset At Ironwater Flats", you should definitely check out our Stage 32 Coverage/Consulting services (which I coordinate). They give you the chance to get your material into the hands of executives for review without an agent. I've linked to them below, and you can also message me here or email me at matt@stage32.com with any and all questions. I'd love to help you out! All the best. https://www.stage32.com/happy-writers/coverage

Another old desert rat bids you welcome - I spent quite some time out in Ajo in the 60's

Jack's got some of the best tales of the industry that I've ever heard. He's a prince! And his script mentioned above, has some of the best fight scenes I've read. Leave it to a stunt man.
