I have been writing for about 5 years, only recently finished my first script. I haven't won any awards or had my script made. I am looking to take the next step, and trying to make the connections to make that happen. I would be grateful if I can get some tips.

Hi Aaron, after re-writing you should look for a coverage, a script consultant. The easiest way is to buy a coverage here at Stage32 - check the Happy Writers to get an idea. You could also ask fellow members who probably would love to offer you their consulting service.

Hi Aaron, I found Twitter is a great way to make further contacts, I followed 1000s of producers, directors, actors. Most won't return favour but if you plug away, RT them and make useful comments they mostly do and become interested in your work. Takes a lot of time and effort but it worked for me. Writing tip - create a 1 sentence pitch and use it as a tool to keep every scene within the story - this way you will find hidden darlings. Best of luck!
Hey Colin, thank you. Happy I could help a little. Simon, completely agree, but we don't know on which level his script is right now. Hence, contacting directors/producers might be too early.

Agreed Elisabeth, I wouldn't contact anyone until my script is just so, but there's no harm in friending producers etc as a base for further contact when ready.

One more Aaron, make sure at least 2 people proof read it before letting anyone else see it. Don't trust MS squiggles for correct spelling or grammar.

Just thought of something - Final Draft does not work properly with Win10 so beware of upgrading, I did and had to downgrade to Win8. Contacted FD they said it's a bug they can't fix as of yet.
