Hello, I am grateful for this opportunity, and for this community of opportunity. I am a new novelist, although I have previously written non-fiction. My novel genre is historical fiction as best I can define it, and the first book takes place in the 1960's. I was just informed this week that my first novel "Confessions from the Pumpkin Patch" has won a New Apple award for general fiction. My characters struggle through things like abuse, addiction, oppression, prejudice etc. to discover something about themselves or their families that they had never really considered. These are books about overcoming life's challenges. They are written from first person perspective as though the protagonist is writing an autobiography. The characters in the Soul Encounters series are tied together by the protagonist of the next novel having had an encounter with the protagonist of the previous novel. It is not just any encounter, but one in which lives are changed for both, as though their souls come together for a spiritual/life lesson that directs them to a new understanding. However, I hope to connect with professional screenwriters who might help me convert my novels, and/or other story ideas into screenplay. Hi Amanda; dreams are great things as long as you keep focused on what they mean. Us small town girls need to stick together. I might not be in a small town now, but grew up in that world. Live your dreams to their highest points and learn and enjoy the path it takes.

If it is any consolation, I grew up 10 miles outside of a town of 1500 which was the county seat and then next largest town 40 miles away was about 7000. So, I get this small town thing.

Amanda, I apologize. I thought I was posting on the main page. I didn't realize when I did this that I was posting on your intro. Please forgive the intrusion & Blessings. If it is any consolation, I get this small town thing. I grew up 10 miles outside a county seat town of 1500 people & the next largest town of about 7000 at the time was 40 minutes away. However, a kid I know from that little town did a Superbowl commercial a year or two ago, and has landed a couple of movie & TV spots with acting. Lots of global success comes out of small towns. You just don't realize it after it happens.
