Hi everybody! Since this is my first post here (and the email really encouraged going for this) I'll introduce myself properly.
I'll be redundant and say my name is Saqib (Saa-qibb). It's an Arabic adjective.
Entirely unnecessary details: I've loved writing and storytelling since I started reading books as a kid. A few things I wrote were used in school and people seemed to like them. While I ended up working in marketing, (and I love it!) writing stories always stayed a passion. I used to write one-scene character-oriented stories I called sketches. Some of them led to bigger stories later. With time the passion grew, and I worked on learning the craft and loved the idea of novel writing... A year ago, I was working on first drafts of a novel and a feature screenplay (Yeah. I'm messy that way.)...
Possibly relevant details: ...when a friend called me for help with a video for work. He works in a huge firm and he was expected to make a humorous video representation of his department for their annual conference. He had less than a week to take care of it. For reasons I still don't know, I accepted his offer to produce the video. We wrote the script, I hired the crew, we shot the video in two days, and I edited it in a couple of shifts. The audience loved it... This is when I realized I'd love to produce and direct more.
Important details: So, here I am. I now have a short film script that I'll be producing in a couple of months, and a couple of others that I'll do later. I also have a feature screenplay based on this short I'm producing... I want to focus on production now and I'll keep you great folks posted on my progress... Of course, I'd love to get to know you and learn from your experience.
I'm pretty sure this will do for now.
Cheers!
Welcome aboard and well done with the video, Saqib.
