Screenwriting : Capitalization of Names by Christopher Binder

Christopher Binder

Capitalization of Names

I recently finished writing a short adaptation of The Steadfast Tin Soldier and need a bit of clarification on the names. Every time after each are introduced, should I write ballerina, the tin soldier, and jack-in-the-box all lower case or upper case?

Myron DeBose

I would.

Pierre Langenegger

After these characters have been introduced to the camera, you would then write their character names as Ballerina, Tin Soldier and Jack-in-the-box when used in action, and of course, you'd fully cap them for dialogue cues.

Dan Guardino

I agree with Pierre because they are characters in your screenplay like any other character.

Paul Mahoney

I agree with Pierre as well.

Chad Stroman

Agree with Pierre.
