Screenwriting : Screenplaybook.com by Steve Cleary

Screenplaybook.com

Just got an email from this website SCREENPLAYBOOK.COM asking me to sign up. They want $19/month to list a script that they say they'll broadcast to their network of producers, managers, etc. Has anyone used it? https://www.screenplaybook.com/

Craig D Griffiths

InkTip is cheaper and seems to have success. It is smaller producers and companies.

Natalie Farst

I was told by a very experienced source that these websites make more money than they give avenues to anyone.

Craig D Griffiths

I think they may have utility for international writers.

Anthony Cawood

Script Revolution is free...

Steve:

I just looked at this website and whoever is running it has brass nuts. It looks like they're charging to do a monthly blast, which is worthless. Also, they have no testimonials and no information about who they are and what kind of "connections" they have with producers of any kind. Craig is right. Inktip is a way better bet for listing your script. Script Revolution is free but I'm not sure how much traffic they're getting. That being said, I did get a script read request from a indie producer via Script Revolution a few weeks back. Didn't cost me a dime. Until this site is better vetted, I wouldn't use it.

Doug Nelson

I don't know, but I think I'll keep my credit card safely tucked away in my wallet. I've had success on InkTip. I've not tried Script Revolution - cuz I think it's more UK, European oriented.

Anthony Moore

I got the same email. I read it and hit delete. Until I see some professional proof positive, I'll stay away.

Danny Manus

wow! what a scam. it doesnt even list what companies it is "sent" to. no names listed on who runs it. and PART of your job IS to pitch and get your story out there yourself.

Bill Costantini

I agree with Danny. Even if someone was legitimately trying to start a service like this, the first thing they would do is tell you who they are and what their unique qualifications are. Websites without that element are highly suspect. "Guaranteeing" that they will send "at least" 100 books out is meaningless, and especially when you don't know who they are and who they are actually sending the "books" to. What if five people pay him - is he going to send out the books with just five listings, and when?

I got the name and number for the guy who started this web site from register.com. Maybe I'll give him a call. You can always find out that information about suspect web sites from register.com

Danny Manus

plus, theyre sending out listings for scripts that may still be unreadable. if you have a shitty script, it doesnt matter how much you pay someone to send it out or to whom. it is wasted money. I send my clients scripts out to over 100 execs and reps (my rolodex) for FREE but ONLY when they are truly ready and strong enough to be Recommended.

Bill Costantini

Good point, Danny. I have also noticed an uptick in more anonymous/unverifiable service providers trying to hawk goods and services via web sites to writers. Let the buyer beware!

Steve Cleary

Yup. Great input everyone. I emailed the guy asking for a list of writers who sold through his site and he responded saying the site was too new for that. As just another struggling, frustrated and broke screenwriter, I don't pay for listing services or blasts anymore anyway :^}

Michael L. Fawcett

Stick with established listings like inktip.com and ISA.

Abe Froman

Most of the handful of those listing companies claim to have lots of scripts sold, but I never really believe them. I clicked your link for screenplaybook.com and see that they refuse to make any claims, which I like. It really depends what you're looking for, and how much you're willing to spend. I have a blacklist account for a little while but I don't really like their system, so I ditched it. The screenwriting world has yet to see a perfect listing system. Good luck to everyone!

Anthony Cawood

Personal opinion only, but Inktip seem pretty good at helping get lower budget scripts into production... and I sincerely hope we see Script Revolution continue it's successes too.

Steve Cleary

Yep, if I could just commit myself to writing small cast, contained thrillers, I think I could find some success on InkTip. Alas, I prefer writing multi-location comedies with multiple characters. Might as well be writing epic Sci-Fi sagas :^}

Dan Guardino

I never listed anything on these kind of sites. However I do have a $1.5M crime thriller screenplay I wrote with Judy Norton. She is attached as the main character and will be directing it. You might know Judy as the Mary Ellen Walton, the eldest daughter on The Waltons 1971-81 TV show. The Waltons won Won 2 Golden Globes. Another 18 wins & 56 nominations. Judy's IMDb rating is 9543. Anyway would any of these sites you can post your screenplay on worth posting this one? I also have a LOI from a distribution company. I don't care what the cost is I just don't want to waste my time.

Abe Froman

That's pretty impressive. They just send out queries en masse, but if its worth that much I'd certainly put more effort into selling it than their 200 a year. But I'm sure it couldn't hurt. Hell if its worth that much i'd use all of the listing services! Good luck!

Myron DeBose

This is not an endorsement but they do list some of the companies and producers.

Bill Costantini

How many scripts have been sold through Screenplaybook.com? "We do not make claims pertaining to success of our customers."

Yeesh. And we're "writers"....or "clients".....not "customers". Double yeesh.
