Pitching

I would like to pitch my script in Happy Writers. Would like to know experiences, tips, and success stories from our stage 32 friends. Kindly share your views. Thank you and Have a good day!

The Executives you will be Pitching are all Extremely Legitimate so I would make sure my concept was as clear as possible with a clearly defined hook. Follow the format Stage 32 recommends and do some research on the executive and company to make sure you mention movies in your comparable (if you do comparable) they did well with and avoid mentioning movies which may have been bad experience for them. That is all I can think,. I have done more than several and learned from every experience and (for good or ill) made contact with Executives.

P.S. Do a Skype Interview or Phone Interview, writing a proposal does not allow for you to answer questions about your script and you are also selling you, not just your script.

GOOD LUCK!!!

In principle it's no different than paying for matchmaking services. The advantage is being able to reach the right people efficiently. The traditional method is to move to LA, get a job in the mail room, and schmooze everyone you meet. That still works, but I wouldn't call it easier or more cost-effective than the "speed dating" method.

Agree with Wayne. It's also no weirder for realtors who have to pay to pitch their listed houses or businesses for sale, or for other entrepreneurs/merchants who have to pay to pitch their goods and/or services on marketing websites; in newspapers or other media outlets; or at conventions. It is what it is.

I pitched a couple scripts with Stage32. I got great feedback from my pitches (and didn't have to pay extra for that). I ecstatically recommend the Stage32 pitch sessions for writers who are trying to option/sell scripts to reputable producers, or who are trying to get representation from reputable agents or managers.

these new age Writers don't have a clue how fortunate they are writing for today's market. Back in the day before facebook or dial up modems, you had to be in Los Angeles, carry paper scripts, bribe assistants to speak to the MAN (yes, the bosses were all GUYS).

Now with a click of a computer mouse, I can connect with some desk jockey hungry Exec. Don't have to leave my house or change out of my pajamas.

Don't worry about the tiny fee price to pitch. When you make it in Hollywood, you're gonna drop big money $$$$. The $30 Stage 32 charges for a pitch won't even cover Valet at a Los Angeles restaurant in a good part of town. Happy hunting! :)

Thank you all, after reading all of your comments I made my mind to pitch it once. But I have a fear, my scripts' content is completely Indian. Does the genre base industry of hollywood really looking for scripts in other languages/cultures? Is this fear genuine?

Dan MaxXx

Hollywood doesn't want your concept. Americans are lazy, don't want to read subtitles. There is a reason why successful foreign films The Raid, Old Boy, Train to Busan, Toni Erdmann get remade with Americans and English language.

Sorry, you're bringing a knife to a gunfight. Wrong market.

Hi Greg, this is new thing to me, may be for all of us who are going to pitch through Happy Writers. We are paying to Stage 32 and they are buying us that executives times.

What kind of role Stage 32 might be playing that is not clear. And if a deal happens then Stage 32 might ask for a share, is that so?

Wardaan T

No issues Greg, just getting my doubts cleared. You nicely explained it, that's good for me. Thank you so much.
