Screenwriters, what do you wish for Christmas?

Hey folks, it's that time of year again. A time to make Christmas wishes and New Years Resolutions. Though I'm not one to make resolutions, I do have a Christmas Wish. I'm looking to get a nice deal made for a screenplay that nets me a sizable payday. And with one script currently optioned and two other possible deals in the works, I have high hopes on getting a film started next year.

What are your Christmas wishes. Please share with Uncle Phil.

Financially, it was a stellar year; got a new ASUS (hello, Windows 10), other nifty writer's helpers. I entered my novella's first chapter into a contest. Winners will be announced this month -- and my wish is that I'm one of the top five. Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique I wish you the happy outcome that you are seeking as well.

Well, I will start a new course in screenwriting, so that will be exciting. I'm also hoping to finish my new novel in 2018 and write some more on my tv series Coral World.

I enter a lot of contests and most of the time I make Finalist. For the New Year, I'm hoping to finally win a major contest in order to jump-start my career. I want to make my first sale or at least get an option going. I'm trying to get to your level.

I bought a fitbit watch and I am gonna be in peak physical & mental shape for 2018, produce my own stuff, hump 16hrs shoot day, 6 days a week.

Erik A. Jacobson

Another writer-for-hire job like the book I just finished for a friend. Will use that check and any other $$$ I can beg, borrow, or steal to shoot a coming-of-age feature over 10 days in May or June, '18.

For Christmas this year: A really nice smokey single malt Scotch. 2017 was pretty hectic with a lot of irons in the fire. I moved, I built a new studio, I wrote a handful of (award winning) shorts, set up a new production entity and gave a couple of short scripts to a few local millennial generation filmmakers - not a one of them was able to perform. (I learned a lot working with millennials - don't do that again.) I've shut down my cable show for lack of decent films (young filmmakers today only want to make stealth films).

Looking forward to Christmas, 2018 - more of a New Year's resolution. I'll no longer beg young writers/filmmakers to let me help - they're on their own now. I'm going to write only two scripts in 2018 - both complex tales, honed, polished and worthy. It's OSCAR bait time.

I'm old & retired so I have nothing better to do. I have one of those Fitbit watches (in a drawer somewhere). At my age, 16 hours a day is a bit much (I need my afternoon nap) but I can manage 10 - 12 hours - seven days a week.

I want good deals for the scripts I've written. I wish everybody tons of happiness and memorable moments for 2018.

For Christmas this year, in terms as a TV writer, a couple of six packs of Smiroff's, & to make up for this super rough year, with building an animation/music studio, from the comforts of my own room. Even it means using the money to pay for more equipment, to make it happen.
