Outside Looking In - Just like your acting craft you need someone on the outside taking a look within your career. A working professional that has been in the business for a number of years that can provide an unbiased assestment of where you've been, where you are, and where you're going. Past, present and future are equally important. Yes, a manager is usually the person an actor turns to for this but when you're starting out you don't have a manager. That's why paying $100 - $250 for an hour consulatation is a great investment.
Home Market Perspective - Get a career consult from someone who works in the market you ultimately want to be in. If that's not possible, then get a consultation from a working professional and use the advice that applies to your home market. The career consult can assist you in figuring out how your actions line up with your market. For example, it can be difficult to find actor training in Korea but, if you go to your home market, with no training at all, then you're behind the eight ball. Chink In Your Armor - You think you're good at something. You wouldn't be an actor if you didn't. Your armor is filled with strong protective areas such as your education, life experience, professionalism, or acting ability. However, we all have areas we can work on and the career consult is there to help point those out. You're only as strong as your weakest link. It doesn't matter if the weak link is part of your own protective covering. So bite the bullet and take the advice no matter how tough.
