Hello, my name is Markus McLaughlin; I live in a small town near Worcester, in MA.
I have questions and goals I need to list here...
1. What screenwriting groups could I attend online?
2. How do I pitch a script online, or can I do that in
New York City, rather than Los Angeles?
3. What Production Companies are friendly to newbies?
4. Is there an "Inside Track" that can guarantee some success?
5. Once a script is accepted, what pre-production goals should I set?
Laura ... When you lose the rights and they want you to work with the editor, what does it entail? Do you sign another contract?

Claude. If you mean an editor who edits the screenplay there is no such thing. If you want to work on the rewrites you have to include it in the agreement.
Would working with the director have to be included in the agreement also?
It must be a very fun day when you sell a screenplay. How was it for you?
Claude. I always ask for the first two rewrites with pay. I don't care if they have a director already or not. I'm not sure why that would matter because most directors will just make the changes they want themselves.
Markus. I don’t know of any screenwriting groups except I know there ae some out there.
You can pitch screenplays online, but I never did it. It wouldn’t make any difference where you live.
Most production companies aren’t too friendly to newbies so write a lot of screenplays, so you aren’t one.
If you option a script it will go into development, into pre-production, production and post production. It can die anywhere along the process and unfortunately the screenwriter isn't involved unless they are also a director or one of the producers. I've seen too many scripts I optioned, sold, wrote for hire die in development hell which is why I decided to try my hand at producing. I figure if someone is going to kill my screenplays it might as well be me.
