Hey, all you fine Stage32 folks,
I wanted to share an exciting update from when I won the Stage32 Feature Screenwriting Contest earlier this year for my script "Golden Girl." I haven't even shared this with some of my family, so lucky you! (I mean, everyone's got that one weird aunt who sews dresses for her Princess Diana dolls, right?) Anyway, a few weeks ago, I was in LA for a bunch of meetings that Stage32 set up for me, the last of which was with David Boxerbaum (spec script-selling master) over at Verve Talent & Lit Agency). Long story short: they wanted to pick me up as a client! I just got an update from them last night that they are carrying out a two-pronged approach to get my script into studio hands, including a promising lead with a producer looking for the exact type of project I wrote. Whaaaat?!?! This has all happened so crazy fast, my head is spinning Exorcist-style (minus the demon vomit).
All that to say, when I first wrote this screenplay over 5 years ago, I don't think anyone would have taken it seriously on my own. So keep going after your dreams and let people read (and constructively criticize) your work, don't take things too personal, and make yourself write. every. single. day. Make yourself re-write every. single. week. Rejection isn't failure, just another step in the process. Giving up is failure. I'm incredibly appreciative of Stage32 and their connections and efforts to help me get to this point!
