Have a reel readily available and distributed. When I'm casting I dismiss anyone with no reel and you would be surprised how many actors don't have one.

Hi, I'm Tabitha. One of the ways to start building a reel, if you don't have the means to pay to have one created, and/or are having troubles getting cast without one, would be to start off submitting to short films or student films.
This may allow you to build material for a reel along with experience and connections. However be sure to have or invest in professional standard headshots.
Websites like backstage or LA casting is a good place to start looking for shorts or student films as well! Hope this helps!
