Introduce Yourself : I want to help you succeed by Claire S Brooks

I want to help you succeed

Hi, I'm Claire and I want to help you achieve creative success.

I used to work a job I hated. I sacrificed my personal values, creativity, and bits of my soul for corporate success. That clash manifested itself in my life as stress, depression, and severe anxiety.

When I was 28 years old, I ditched my fancy corporate advertising job and launched my first six-figure business. Except that business was in entertainment marketing, a field I know well but also one that I'm not very passionate about. Yet I love entrepreneurship and following my dream of launching my own company was one of the best decisions I ever made.

So I decided to follow my dreams again, this time towards a different goal. Last fall, I enrolled in the MFA Film program at Columbia University. Now, my outer life matches my inner values and I love every single minute of the work I do. I spend everyday helping creative individuals make their stories better and bring them to life.

Sometimes I wonder - how did I get here? I'm just a New York girl from a housing projects in Queens that somehow found myself at an elite New England boarding school, New York University, and now Columbia University. Yet over the last 10 years, I managed to build a respectable corporate career while also producing over 20 short films, 5 music festivals, 2 film festivals, and a whole bunch other random things. But I also spent years hiding who I was (a creative more than a suit) in the hopes of “fitting in" and pleasing my parents. In the process, I learned that fitting in and people pleasing a quick path to creative failure and overall burnout.

If you're like me, you have big dreams and there isn’t a box big enough to contain your spirit. Maybe you want to break molds and build something new. Maybe you want to lift up new voices, tell new stories, and have a good time while you're at. Maybe you're seeking financial success without selling your sell. If that’s you - then I’d really love to work with you.

Last month, I launched a new series of creative career, producing, and story coaching programs. Now I work 1-on-1 with ambitious artists, creatives, and storytellers across the country that are ready to take their career to the next level. I'm helping accountants write their first web series, doctors identify stories for their personal memoirs, and showing DP's how to leverage social media to build visibility. I'm helping students fresh out of college land that coveted first jobs, prep grad school applications, or apply to grants and fellowships. And I'm helping entertainment industry hopefuls break into a field that can seem complicated, daunting and downright scary. I also provide script consultation services because reading and developing great material is one my biggest passions in life. You can learn all about this and more on my website (www.superswell.co)

For years, I have always said that I wanted to be a producer because I wanted to help people do their very best work. Now here here I am, 14 years after my first internship with a broadway producer, doing precisely that and so much more. If you're ready to get to work, than let's connect.
