Introduce Yourself

Hey my names Dave and I am currently in preproduction for my first feature. It’s a script I wrote that made it to the semifinals of the new blood contest here on Stage 32. It looks like I’m going to have to rely on favors and friends for crew. I am planning a crowdfunding campaign to at least pay for food and sfx makeup supplies. Unless of course I can find investors.... [crickets] Well any advice is welcome!!!

Hey, Dave, welcome. I'm in the same boat with crowdfunding. I guess my only advice is to keep expenses low, ask local stores and restaurants for discounts and possibly free food, and maybe look into local colleges as far as sfx makeup and/or editing is concerned.

Good luck with your project. I am looking for similar advice as I am in the very, very, early stage of a short project in Minneapolis.

Hey Dave, I hope your campaign had been successful. I have been thinking over my own and have come across RB’s truly enlightening book Crowdfunding for filmmakers , I can’t emphasize enough how much of an impact this has made on my thinking. I would highly recommend it if you are still in your process or even if you’ve finished with your campaign. I know I will refer to it often. You can find the link on Richard Botto’s page somewhere, I think on his wall , anyway it’s easily discovered on audible. Oh, yes it’s an audio book, his delivery is not only clear but can be quite funny. Well this bit of news may not be news to you at all, whether it is or not I would love to know how your project is coming along. Cheers and good success to you.
